Joel Osteen Sermon: Keep Your Vision In Front Of You

Studies tell us that we move toward what we constantly see.

Pastor Joel Osteen Says
You need to keep something in front of you to remind you of what God has promise you.

For Example

Keep Your Vision In Front Of You
Some of you are not seeing God's best.  Not, because you don't have the faith, the talent, the determination, but it's because you are not keeping the right things in front of you.  If you can't see your vision, then how are you moving toward it.

For Example
All over your house you should have pictures up that inspire you and scriptures verses that encourage you.  Maybe it's a key on your key ring for the new house you are going to buy.  Whatever you are believing and dreaming about keep something in front of you that reminds you of what God has promised.

Major points in Pastor Osteen sermon
  • Keep your visions in front of you
  • Take the limits off of God
  • We serve a supernatural God
  • God will do more than what you are dreaming about
  • If you can accomplish your dreams in your strength, your own talent, with your resources, than your dreams are too small.  Your assignment is too great to be small.

Release Your Faith
When you keep your visions in front of you, that is your FAITH being released.  That's why the scripture uses such strong language.  Where there's no vision people perish.  With no vision your dreams will die.  if you can't see what God has promise you, you will miss the incredible things God wants to do.

Scriptures Pastor Joel Osteen asks you to focus on:
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) - Where there is no vision, the people perish.  But he (the person) that keepth the law, happy is he (bless are those that keep the law).
2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV) -  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Book Writer And Pastor Rick Warren Gives Us FIVE Things To Help Keep Your Vision In Front Of You
Research has revealed that people have more difficulty setting goals than they do accomplishing them once they are set.  The hardest part for most of us is seating down and thinking about what God wants us to do in our lives.
What Does God Have To Say About Setting Goals
The bible says in Proverbs 24:3-4, an enterprise (business or dreams) build by wise planning becomes strong through common sense (setting reachable goals), and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast (alongside) of the facts.  God says it makes good sense to plan!  It's good to have plans in our life, marriage, family, finances, and your ministry.
#1 - Determine Your Position & Evaluate Your Current Condition
It doesn't matter how often you do this throughout the year.  Pastor Warren says he does this about every quarter out of the year.  You need to know where you are first, before you can determine where you are going.

#2 - Clearly State Your Goal
You need to know exactly what you want.  You know right now in your life where you are and you need to know where you want to go.  For example, I want a successful online magazine.  Right now I feel I have all the resources to get it there, but I need to make sure I use every last resource ( every door God has open) to help make this business a success.

Your goals will not be vague goals (vague means not clear)! You'll never reach a vague goal.  The more specific a goal is, the easier it is to reach.
#3 - Fear And Goals
Often, we let fear take control of us once we start moving toward our goals.  When fear steps in don't focus on how the goal will be reach.  Focus on God's promises in his Word.  When you're setting goals for yourself, don't look at your own resources or your own abilities.
#4 -  Describe The Profit
Every goal must have a payoff or a reward.  If there's no reward then, there's no motivation to reach it.  You've got to settle the value of the goal in your mind.  Ask yourself three questions about your goal:
  1. What is the reward?
  2. Why do I want it?
  3. How will I feel when I get it?

You need to describe the profit upfront.  When you settle the why, God will show you the how.  When you know why you want to do, what you want to do with your life, you have a calling.  If you don't understand the profit, you'll get discourage and give up.

#5 - Desire In Prayer
Praying for your goals does two things.  It reveals desire, and it shows your independence.  It shows God how much you want something, and it shows Him you trust Him to help you.
  1. Are you praying for your goals?
  2. Have you just set them or are you really praying for them?
Your goal sheet ought to be your prayer list.  They shouldn't be the only thing on your prayer list, but they should be apart of it.

  In Conclusion
We all have a vision, we all have a dream.  When Pastor Joel Osteen stated to keep your vision in front of you, it was like bells going off in my head.  You know it was like he was saying to me, "Acquelyn if they are in front of you, you'll never forget about them."
I don't know about you, but sometimes when I get a vision, I get this rush of excitement and if I don't act on that feeling, then I loose it and I no longer have a desire to complete the vision.  And Pastor Rick Warren is right, fear begins to set in.  You tell yourself you are going crazy or if this is such a good ideal, then why isn't everybody doing it.  And the answer to that question is, it is not easy.  Nothing in life is simple and easy.  I have to tell myself that everyday.
There are plenty of days where I wake up and I want the money to work for me, but I have to snap back into reality and say no, things just don't work that way.  Even with my kids I want them to be magical dressed and ready for school, but once again it just doesn't happen that way.  I have to wake up and do my job as their mom, to make sure they are prepared for the day ahead of them.
I pray that whatever vision you are chasing after, that it comes to pass.  I pray that God provides that spiritually teaching, so that your steps will be ordered.  While chasing your dream if you feel like crying, than cry, if you want to shout, than shout, if you want to talk, then take it Jesus.  But whatever you do, don't give up!
