Viola Davis 48 & Fabulous: On Going Natural and Praying for a Man

Viola Davis is on the cover of Essence's magazine for the October 2013 issue.  Before, I tell you how I know Viola Davis, I want to first say she looks really good and youthful.  All the pictures and movies I have ever seen her in, she was always portrayed as an older woman.  So, this whole natural looking picture of her on the cover of Essence Magazine is really a hott picture.

Cast of Warner Bros. new Movie Prisoners starts Viola Davis, and Terrence Howard just to name a few...
Eurweb:She has a movie coming out called "Prisoners," where she will be starring with actor Terrence Howard.  In the movie Prisoners, produced by Warner Bros. Viola Davis and Terrence Howard plays a couple who takes the law into their own hands when their daughter and her best friends are abducted.   Hugh Jackman and Maria Bello play the parents of the best friend.

After, the cops fail to find the two girls, Jackman spearheads his own operation to find them by kidnapping the suspected abductor.  The movie will be in theaters September 20, 2013

Viola Davis is well known from her recent movie in the 2011 movie The Help.  Of course she has acted in other movies like Doubt, Solaris, Disturbia.  Which for me, those roles had her looking plain Jane, she looked older than what she really was, and it put her in certain category of movies.  But seeing Viola Davis on the cover of Essence Magazine this month, really allowed me to see her in a different light and the interview she did with Vanessa K. Bush at Essence really allowed me to get a little in Viola's world to see what kind of person she is.

The Interview with Essence Magazine:

On issues of self-esteem:
"My image of myself as a youth was in the mouths of young white kids calling me ugly, and then going home to a mother who did not fully embrace her beauty."

The Help (2011)
Our society's view of hair:
"There's not one woman in America who does not care about her hair, but we give it way too much value.  We deprive ourselves of things, we use it to destroy each other, we'll look at a child and judge a mother and her sense of motherhood by the way the child's hair looks.  I am not going to traumatize my child about her hair.  I want her to love her hair."

 Necolebitchie: Viola says,

I only wear wigs when I work.
"I had to defend myself as an artist, but I found myself defending myself as a dark skinned black woman in front of people who did not know my life.  I took my wig off, because I no longer wanted to apologize for who I am."

I Prayed for a Husband.
"I asked for a husband who was emotionally available, someone who was older, someone who maybe had a family before.  I like older men.  Someone from the South.  Someone who loves God, more than he loves himself.  I meet my husband three and half weeks later, an ex football player from Austin, Texas, named Julius Tennon.  On our first date, he took me to church.   Viola and Julius were married in 2003 and adopted a daughter in 2011."
