It feels good when you can be a blessing to someone else.  It makes you over look your problems and the

things that are going on in your life.  You begin to appreciate the things you have and complain a little less about the things you don't have.  You'll be surprised at the number of things you can do to be a blessing to someone.

We often assume we have to be big blessings to others and it's okay to feel that way.  But, let's just be honest a lot of us are making it on a budget and if we can do anything for anybody it would probably be something very small.  Which is okay!

Now, not everyone would appreciate the small blessings.  So, you have to be careful who you give your gifts to.  But people who are single mothers, pastors, part time college students, someone struggling to make ends meet, the sick, the old, children, and homeless are great people you can be a small blessing to.

#1 Cook a meal
H.O.P.E...Helping other people eat!  They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and the same holds true for everyone else.
Good food is a super way to cheer someone up.  It's also a nice gesture for someone who needs a meal.  At

my church we have several young mothers who could always use a hand feeding lunch to their children after church.  It's not about what you fix, but the love behind the meal.  Don't assume what you are offering is too little or too small.

#2 Monetary Blessing
I must admit these are hard to come by, but whenever they fall through, I just give all thanks to God, because He knows my every need.  If you have the means of being a blessing by giving money, than you should do this on every occasion.  I pray to God I will have that freedom in a time in my life.  However, giving money in smaller amounts is just as much a blessing as the big amounts. Here are a few ways!

    • Taking someone to buy a new outfit with a $20.00 budget
    • Buying diapers for some one's child
    • Paying their childcare bill...From busy to blessing
    • Taking someone to the salon or barbershop
    • Or, just give someone $25.00 and say God Bless!
It's all about how you give, not how much you give!

#3 Donate and Give your old stuff away
We had a garage sale earlier this year at my church.  I of course volunteered, but I didn't give any of my stuff away.  Do you know after the garage sale, it was like God showed me all the stuff I should have gave away.

Initially, I thought I didn't have anything to contribute, but oh how I was wrong.  I could have sold it on Ebay or gave it away at a local shelter, but meeting the actually families and people who can't afford to spend a lot of money on clothes, shoes, and other things is a blessing withing itself.  It humbled me so much.  I never knew that many people still seek out garage sales in the year 2013.

So, definitely donating things you no longer need is a blessing in itself.  If you have the chance to pass out those items, please take advantage of it.

Scriptures about being a blessing to others
    • Matthew 5:16 - In the same way, let your light shine before others...
    • Philippians 2:1-30 - In humility count others more significant than yourself...
    • Luke 6:31 - And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them...

#4 Babysitting
This job isn't for everyone, but I'm sure you can manage to watch kids for a friend for a couple of hours.  Keep yourself and the kids busy in 47 ways while babysitting.

#5 Hanging Out
It feels good to be able to get together and hang out.  Every one should be able to experience this.  For a couple of hours you should enjoy your freedom of not worrying about anything, but just enjoying everything around you.

Sometimes hanging out and enjoying good company means
  • Gossiping
  • Golfing
  • Going to the movies
  • Getting together with friends for breakfast
#6 Invite someone over for dinner
If you're anything like my family, we fix dinner every night.  Not only does it save money, but it gives my family some much needed bonding time.  It's a much healthier way to eat and we usually have leftovers for a couple of days.

I hear all the time from people, about them being lonely.  Not saying I wish I was lonely, but I haven't had that experience yet.  But for those who complain to you about it, I would suggest inviting them over.  Even if it's just you and that person.

#7 Offer to clean some one's house
It seems like when I wake up in the morning I'm cleaning.  Before I go to bed at night I'm cleaning again.  I mean it just seems like the house never gets clean the way how I want it.  Some people are however, very experienced in getting things clean.  They are very tidy!  It's not a problem for them.  You personally don't have to be an expert, but if you enjoy cleaning, why not help someone clean out
  • Their attic
  • Clean their refrigerator
  • Help fold clothes, that has probably been sitting there for 2 weeks
  • Organizing their closet
  • Spring cleaning
#8 Work out buddy
Well, it's almost the beginning of a new year, but anytime throughout the year is a great time to start working out.  I am always telling my husband I want to lose more weight and it would help if he supported me.  But if your husband won't support you, then it's time to find someone who will.  My church started a workout fitness class this year.  It started as a biggest loser contest, but thrived into a workout class.  It will be a year in February 2014.

This was a great support system for me.  Just ask God and you shall receive!

#9 Wash and clean car
Working, attending church 5 days out of the week, doing homework, cooking dinner, and cleaning, leaves no time for maintenance on my car.  But for some reason it seems like other people have the same hectic schedule that I have, but they still find time to wash and maintain their car in good status.  Hmmm....I guess you can just call those people super, because they must have some type of special power.

#10 Pray
I decided to save this one for last, because it is the smallest blessing you give, but it has big benefits.  Praying to the Lord and asking for a small few favors and blessings for others is priceless.  Out of all the things I mention I above, I would love pray over any of them.  A lot of those things above are temporary and they only last a short while.  But praying for me to have more strength, love, joy, peace, and faith is way more lasting than any materialistic thing.
